I have a few goslings coming out of the incubator now and going into a brooder. I would like to supplement there dry crumble feed with some fresh green grass clippings. I think they would be healthy addition with natural vitamins and part of a normal diet for naturally hatched goslings. I would like feed them in a way that is efficient and would minimize mess in the brooder as I have struggled with that in the past. Is anyone else doing this and have suggestions?

I start giving mine chopped greens after the first few days. I try to start with dandelion greens chopped small, than progress to mixed grasses and other greens. I use a scissors at first, than graduate to a push mower as they eat more and more grass. Eventually they go out in the yard and can pick their own.

Do you feed them in an open dish?

Update: I did build me a very rudimentary chicken wire basket to feed grass to my goslings. I attached it to the door of the brooder so when I open it I have easy access to fill it. Here is a photo of it filled with fresh clipped grass. And when I closed the door the goslings immediately started eating it. I have fed it in a pan before and they would trample it and foul it. I like this much better.
