feeding schedule for baby chicks

Thank you, that's a relief. I read it from a VCA academic article. My first thought was that the article was written by academics who have no experience with chicks. I'll never understand why some people bother to write about things of which they have no real knowledge. Thanks again (--from a first time chick/chicken mom)
Just what we need another expert. All our birds are for laying eggs and have always had free choice full feeders. No experience with meat birds and the feed regimen sounds like a PIA to me so no meat birds.

Somehow, it reminds me of baby experts who recommend regimented nursing schedules. That always seemed cruel to me, and I fed my babies whenever they wanted. I let my chicks eat whenever they want too.

Can you please provide a link to that article so I can read it in context. It could be interesting to see what it says.
I didn't save it because I didn't quite buy what they were saying--figured it was written buy an academic who never kept chickens or consulted with folks who have this experience.

I don't recall ever reading any articles about chicks being placed on a feeding schedules.I can assure you all chicks need to eat freestyle even meat birds. The only meat birds that have food restrictions are the ones that get too fat to walk

Or you can restrict their diet before they get too fat to prevent it from happening. Usually if someone is hoping to raise the meat birds for breeding, then they try to grow them out slower to avoid leg and heart issues. It’s not always successful but can be done.

Yes some 'meat birds' gain weight too fast and have to be placed on a restrictive diet so they'll live longer
