Hello, it’s me again… right now I have 3 adult drakes and 2 adult laying females. The males quack constantly whenever they hear me come to them or see them. The females used to be the same way and quack quite a bit. Here lately I noticed my black Swedish doesn’t quack anymore. She just makes the sound when she gets excited but not a full quack. Now my Ancona female isn’t quacking either and she always would when picked up or when I came close by. I’m currently treating her for bumble and with antibiotics. Could it be stress from being with the males? Or could it be a respiratory infection?
What are some good vitamins or natural foods/spices to add to their diet?
I also have 9 ducklings around 2-3 weeks old that I am raising and hoping the majority turn out female. I tried vent sexing when they were a few days old soooo I’m hoping my predictions were right so I do not have to get rid of my males. When I’m out there I haven’t noticed the drakes being aggressive towards the females and they all sit together. I just don’t want them to be miserable.
I guess my main question is just regarding why the females are no longer quacking. They are both around 25 weeks old
