Taro looks very much like EE and grows wild on the river banks around here. Taro root is used by many cultures for food and should not be a problem in a pond. I have had it in my goldfish/koi pond with no problems. The only problem I have is that it is so prolific and spreads by runners all over the place. I now have some growing in my flower bed...
