Hi everyone.
I'm new to chicken keeping, we just got a flock of chicks a week ago but I've been reading and studying chickens for months in preparation.
The house we bought recently had a chicken coop with it.
It's all wood and needs some improvements.
I wanted to seal the floor and the previous owner sealed the gaps with foam, which I'm not sure is good? (it's exposed.)
What is best to seal a wood floor? I wanted to use something like flex seal or tile or something?

I would normally recommend Black Jack 57 rubber roof coating, but since your floor has already been used, I don't think it will adhere well. If you can get a piece of vinyl that will cover the whole floor, I would use that. I wouldn't glue it down, in case you ever had to replace it. Instead I would use 1 x 2's around the edges and nail it down to hold the vinyl in place. This should also hide the foam around the floor.

I second the use of Black Jack 57 rubber roof coating. 2 coats on the floor and roughly 1ft up the wall and you are good. Your floor will have to be cleaned no matter what you use so any adhesive will stick.

Sweep it out really good, if you have a leaf blower use that. Then you can simply roll on the Black Jack. Doesn’t matter if it’s a little dirty since it will just roll over and coat it all.
