Foods that may cause diarrhea in chickens.

I have access to lots and lots (50+ lbs a day) of tomatoes, broccoli, apples, oranges, onions that I want to feed, how do I go about it? I would like to actually supplement they're feed with it so? If they are used to this kind of stuff will their bodies take it better? what are the consequences? I should add that I will have 100 CX free range meat birds

Most of this is fine, but I don't think chickens can have onions or citrus... I give mine lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower, everyday, apple here and there, tomatoes here and there.

Here is a list of stuff they can have. at the bottom are items they can't have. I don't see onions, but I thought I read that some where that it is poisonous for them.

I cut it up and put in bowls (in the winter). In the summer I hang it in suet cages or chicken balls. But with that many chickens you can probably just throw it in their pen and they can peck at it. Keep in mind, pick up any food at the end of the day so it doesn't rot as this can cause sickness (food poisoning, sour crop).

I'm not a big fan of that list - it's purely anectdotal - and there are a lot of things on there that are the equivalent of urban myth (like only feed cooked rice, not raw)

Chickens are fine eating onions. They're not a huge fan of them, but they won't cause any issues. I've got a plot of onions growing and the ducks and chickens keep them neatly trimmed (as it's winter, and they're about the only thing green).

Citrus is the same way - it doesn't bother chickens - most of them just don't like it.

oh thanks! I'm new to chickens so pretty much if someone says it is not good for them, i'm like "Ok" so thanks for clearing that up!

Hmm cool, I was thinking meat birds are a little more aggressive eaters and a little more "stupid" so.
