We have a chicken that was given to us with terrible feet. Think very long claws many of which have completely broken off. The skin is also very crusty and gross. The poor old thing limps a lot so I know she's not comfortable. I'm thinking she might have some kind of fungus. Is there anything I can do for her?

Ok, here are the pictures. This is after we washed her feet.

most likely Scaley Leg (mites)

lots of posts here..
some scrub the legs with a soft brush..
then coat the legs with Bag Balm, or vaseline..some use Vicks..this will smother the mites.
if she has open sores..antibiotic ointment (such as polysporin or neosporin)can be used.
continue to coat the legs regularly..and treat the bird for mites..

best for Scaley Leg is Ivomec drops on back of neck..
(Ivomec will also worm the birds)

sounds like she might have had them for a while..and could also have a bacterial or fungal infection..
a vet product called Panalog, also Animax..is an ointment that will treat both bacterial and fungal infections.
if she has a bad bacterial (staph), she might need Pen-G procaine.

if you can post a pic it will be easier to know for sure if it's Scaley leg.

I think ya'll might be right about the leg mites but, if so, its by far the worst case I've seen (looked at pics online). I'm gonna try to wash her feet, etc. tonight and I'll take some pics then. Thanks for the input. I'll keep you posted.
