Found THIS in a package of mealworms!

Totally not what I was expecting when clicking on this thread.

:sick

That's gross. Your chickens will be okay though.

Ha! Surprise! Yeah it was NOT what I was expecting when I was pulling out a hand of mealworms to give my chicks either! But as long as they’ll be ok then I’m ok. They seem to be fine and I’ve been feeding them from this same bag for a while. Thanks!

Well. They’re imported from China and sold at tractor supply.

Would y’all recommend on stop giving them to the chicks and get a new bag? I’ve already tossed the butt!
Nah, it'll be okay.

I might say something to the company though. Not that it would do much. If it were my company, I know that I'd like to know about something like that happening.

Yeah. I would probably have as much luck as I did with trying to get a shipping company to answer for the 10ft KAYAK they lost mid-shipment last week! I mean! Cmon! How do you ‘loose’ a TEN FOOT KAYAK?! I hope it had holes in it so whoever decided they wanted it gets wet! Lol!

It's not the end of the world. My uncle smoked and his chickens would regularly peck at butts on the ground.

The butt was probably mixed into whatever material you as used to grow the worms...I don’t imagine you need to discard the rest of the bag.

I just came from threads on feeding chickens food waste, compost, and fermented feed. The consensus seems to be these approaches are too “dirty”.

Guess I should be feeding my flock nice “clean” mass-produced bugs from China.:gig
