Free Chicken Apron/Saddle Pattern

That sounds great.

Most of my hens have grown their feathers back after malting, but I'm especially worried about one who has no feathers on her back and the top of her wings. Close and frequent inspection shows no pests or mites, &c. so I think it's just because she's Lucky's (the Rooster) favourite.

Do you have a rooster with your hens? How do the chicken aprons stand up to his amorous advances?

I have two grown roosters in with my flock of 27 hens and several youngsters, just their favorites were getting the feathers worn off their backs and wings. The denim saddles that have been on for over 6 months have nice embroidered emblems on them, the stitching is looking a little worn from the roos advances, but the actual saddle denim material still looks great. All of the hens back feathers have grown back in. I have not had the cotton ones with the wing protectors long enough yet, but after two weeks they are showing no wear. I also sprayed them with scotch guard water repellent before putting them on as the girls don't seem to mind the rain and I was worried about them getting too heavy when they got wet.

I made the wing elastics, tried it on her then trimmed it shorter. Maybe 7"? They finished elastic is about 4 1/2" inches on either side.

from different sources. I have one gal who is very much the dominant rooster's favorite. She wore it for months until it got caught in a rose bush and she got out of it. I need to put it back on her.... Here's my Lacey showing off her new shawl.

It doesn't impede her movement or activity at all. Here she is dustbathing with Carl, the afore-mentioned Romeo.

Great photos. Thank you everyone.

I made a prototype tonight. Bald Hen didn't like me putting it on her, but I think that's because her wings are so sore. I need to make the wing protection as well. Anyone have a pattern for that?
