Hello!

This may seem like a silly question. We have 8 ducks that free range on our acre pond/floating duck house. They are about a year old. I usually find one or two eggs per day. How can I tell if they are fertilized? They don't seem to be broody and I pick up a few eggs daily. Would I need to get an incubator and put the eggs in right away?

The egg in the back is not fertile. The one in the front is (look at the small white dot on the yolk). Many domestic ducks have had the broodiness bred out of them. It keeps them laying eggs for us. So, crack one open and if you see a bullseye you can put the rest in an incubator.
