Hi there, we have Gunma cabbage seedlings planted in ground and are now expecting to get some very cold temps tonight, 25-18F. Anyone had these temps before and can let us know if these will make it?

That sounds like that is about the lowest temp they can take without damage but might be pushing it. How many did you plant?

About 100, we use a lot of cabbage lol. We do have glass mason wide mouth jars we are using to cloche them. Just not sure if that will be enough.

Never used a mason jar before. I imagine if the sun hits them, they will heat up pretty fast.

I got a bunch of queen or king size flat sheets pretty cheaply at a thrift store. It helped that I volunteered here and knew the lady that did the sheets. I actually got her rejects but paid full price for them, $1.25 per sheet. This was several years ago.

When it is gong to freeze or frost I cover plants with those sheets, weighing the corners down with rocks or something heavy so the wind doesn't blow then off. Don't use plastic, the cold goes right through to anything it touches. The cloth sheets work pretty well.

Cabbage can take cold pretty well but I don't know how your seedlings will do at those temperatures. Wish you luck.
