Frizzle? Sizzle? Cochin? Silkie? Can someone help with breeds and colors?

Satins are smooth Silkies, all the typical Silkie traits but rather than having silkie "hair like" feathers they are "normal" feathered.

Frizzles are not a breed. Frizzle is a feather trait that can happen in any breed.

Sizzles are frizzled Silkies. They have the silkie feathers but are also frizzled "curly feathers".

It is my understanding that Satins are a separate breed from Silkies. They are part cochin and part silkie. They are NOT silkies. I've been scolded for calling them silkies. This was made clear to me by several breeders.

Satins can be both smooth or frizzled.

#3 looks to be a Sizzle
#2 looks to be a Frizzled Satin
#8 also a Frizzled Satin

How old now? #8 does look to be a pullet and the other two are cockerels.

True. I didn't mean to imply that Satins and Silkies were the same breed. They best way I've found to describe Satins are "smooth Silkies".

True true. I had a totally random frizzle pop up in my Swedish Flower Hens once. It can happen in any breed.

Okay. I'm still learning and I just wanted to make sure I'm learning everything correctly. I saw you refer to one as a sizzle and the other as a satin. Aren't sizzles and satins the same thing? I thought they changed the name from sizzle to satin to try and get recognition from the ABA?

Sizzles are essentially Frizzled Silkies. The normal silkie "hair like" feathers but curled.

Satins we've already explained. They have the normal type feathers. And can be smooth or frizzled.

I found this feather chart, which explains a little about the different feather types.
