Frost White Legbar Project

I have an unfortunate update. I will not be breeding Frost Legbars anymore.

1 of my 2 hens passed yesterday, and I was struggling enough as is getting eggs with 2 hens, so 1 would be alot of trouble.

And the rooster is unpredictable, somedays wanting to attack and somedays he doesn't care. If he was a good rooster I would keep trying, but unfortunately it is too much trouble dealing with him for 1 hen.

That is disappointing :(

But thank you for updating, so we know what is (or isn't) happening.

You aren't going to raise up a new breeding group from your recently hatched chicks?

Awww I'm so sorry for your loss! I know that has to be hard. I lost my beautiful roo over the winter time and it was hard. I came back on here to see if anyone had any chicks or birds available so this is very disappointing to hear!

All the recently hatched chicks were Easter Eggers. None were pure Legbars unfortunately. I am keeping their Easter Egger babies though.

Wanted to share my group of Cream/Crele and White Legbars. The White in Legbars is recessive, not dominant white like you see in Leghorns. The whites were thrown from the line of Cream/Crele Legbars I have. They originated from Greenfire Farm. The Cream/Crele birds all carry the recessive white gene. Even if you breed cream/crele to cream/crele they throw a percentage of white, because it takes 2 copies of the white recessive gene for the white to express.
