I did my first big butchering a few days ago. The birds were put into two freezers. Seems to me that all the Turkeys in one freezer took on a red/pink color (broiler chicken beside it for color comparison). The ones in the other freezer look OK I think (bottom photo). Any ideas on why this would happen?

Got some answers from a facebook group. It has to do with freezing speed. One guy has a walk in freezer and says the birds at the back will be different colors from the ones at the front as they freeze at different speeds. Also the color is a sign that the bird is not yet fully frozen. a bit less than a day later and some of the red/pink color has gone away.

Thanks for updating! It's good to know.
