Frustrated about the availability of chicks

Pics
They're getting 100's in at a time around here and there's lines of people waiting on them. I have yet to see a single chick in any of the stores. We always go to get feed after work. I've been hatching for myself.

It's the egg prices, people are panicking or they think it will be cheaper (lol) to raise chickens than to buy eggs.
I'm Glad I order December.
They sell out within an hour here.
Of course, in 4/5 months, we'll have a nice assortment of stated pullets available.

Same thing happened with puppies after the Covid lockdown. People put no thought into the fact that these are living beings that need to be taken care of ☹️

I'd you buy a living thing for entertainment, you're likely to give up once it's no longer entertaining.

That’s wrong in so many ways which is why I told my oldest she needs to learn to live independently from us before she gets a dog.

I've just seen empty chick bins so far locally...I assume they are getting bought up immediately on arrival just like I've heard about happening elsewhere. One of the smaller feed stores in my area is only selling chicks by reservation this year. Fortunately I was planning to mainly hatch my own eggs this year, but the trend is still creeping me out a bit.

I've been seeing a lot of just straight up empty shelves.
