Fry Membrane stuck on eye

My duckling hatch this morning but the membrane went dry and stuck to his eye and neck and I cannot get it off with warm water! I don’t want to hurt him or do anything that may affect his vision. What can I do to help him? Or can I just leave it for him to eventually get off himself?

How much of the membrane? Do you have a picture of it? I use a damp warm compress to remove dried membranes when they get stuck to their eye and won't come off(lightly**** compress). Basically I went a washcloth with warm water and gently hold it over the eye for a minute or two. This usually moistens the membrane up enough that I can get the duckling to dunk their head in warm water and get it the rest of the way off.

Can you get a picture?
I would rub some Neosporin or castor oil fairly heavily over it and let it sit a while then try again with warm water and see if it'll come off.

Unfortunately Pablo died last night completely out of the blue he was swimming and walking around happy and then I go out there to check on them and he is upside down and stiff. My heart is broken. And I’m mourning the loss of my little baby!

Are you keeping them in a brooder with heat? You said he was swimming could he have chilled?

Unfortunately Pablo died last night completely out of the blue he was swimming and walking around happy and then I go out there to check on them and he is upside down and stiff. My heart is broken. And I’m mourning the loss of my little baby!
