I am new to quail, but I have seen alot of people on here say that they can't fry quail eggs sunny side up or over easy because the yolk busts. I don't have a quail egg cutter, but I have been using a butter knife to crack the egg near the point of it. Then I just peel the top off and pour the egg into a small bowl. I don't actually put them in the skillet until I have four or five in the bowl. This makes for a nicer fried egg because if I just poured each one into the hot skillet they would thin out too much and over cook.

This is just my way, and like I said-I'm new. So, there is probably some better ways, I just saw a lot of people seem to have trouble with it so I decided to put my two-cents in lol. We've been eating fried quail eggs no problem though. I've busted one yolk out of about 20 or so fried eggs.

Yea I've always heated the skillet with all my eggs so I didn't do these any different. I just turn the fire down low (gas stove) and heat it long enough to let a little butter melt in the pan.

We crack the eggs into a bowl first. Then heat the skillet and pour the eggs in carefully. I find it easier to do them sunny side up. Flipping all those tiny little things for over easy is tough.

I just 3-4 of them run together and flip them as one big egg (with a whole bunch of yokes lol). I do my chicken eggs like that too. I like to keep the whites from thinning out too much. Makes it easier to not over-do them.

I was once shown that if you wanted sunny side up or the like without having to flip the fragile egg, you could put just a quarter cup or splash of water in the frying pan and put the lid back on for 45 seconds or so. The water steams the top of the egg and finishes cooking it on the top without flipping. So you have a fried egg and the top is sort of poached for finishing it off.

I always use my spatula to splash hot grease/butter over the tops of the eggs for my husband. It cooks the egg without cooking the yolk. I like my eggs done very well so just flip them and let the yolk break. It should work for quail eggs too.
