Chickens and ducks have been fed and water is topped up. I tried to get Attila out of the nest box last night and she pinched me enough to break skin. She will be out of there tonight, I found my gloves. When she was out yesterday she was chasing everyone and being rotten. SMH.

My dehydrator has been on for three days already and I think I’ll need one more day to finish everything before I can put it away and get the canner going again. I found a can of sweet potatoes in light syrup in the pantry, must have got those from my mom because I can’t stand sweetened sweet potatoes. I threw those into the dehydrator and then made powder to add to smoothies or regular sweet potatoes at some point. There are four bags of broccoli and cauliflower in now, mostly broccoli. I still have a bag of spinach to add later and then the fruit will be last.

My half gallon jars are in the dishwasher so I can consolidate vinegar projects for fewer jars on my counter.

My daughter just showed me these binders she got to organize all the paperwork for the boys and her important documents in case anything happens to her. Such a great idea! Then she gave me one so I’ll be working on my file box at some point today as well.

Attila came out when I went to let the rest of the crew out of the shade garden after eating. She is locked in for the day.

Also, daughter got some neat stuff from the bulk bins at Winco. :yesss: Raisins and dried blueberries for vinegar, some almonds and dried potatoes. A few other things, I can’t remember.

Trim her top beak with nail clipper, and an emery board to make smooth. When I do such to aggressive chickens,, they stop pecking the other lesser ranked chickens. Well for a good stretch of time,, until beak grows back to hook fashion.
Doesn't take much trimming. Just the sharp hook portion.

I will look at that, thanks Cavey. She is broody crazy right now and she is absolutely horrendous :gig

The kitchen smells delisherous! Our daughter found fresh strawberries for $1.49 and brought home five packages. I got three for preserving. Colors aren’t coming out well because of the light :idunno

This is mixed berries from the freezer that I pureed in the blender. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. I still have half a blender full in the fridge to dry when this is done

I’m going to save the strawberry slices for vinegar and powder the rest.

French onion soup just came out of the canner. The recipe says it makes four quarts but I got three plus a small container for lunch tomorrow.

Those onions took FOREVER to cook down and I’m not sure I like the soup. I may strain the onions out and use it for broth instead, but all the jars sealed.
