I love this place, y'all are GREAT!

But I would need wood that would match the hoop arch, right?
Not necessarily. If you put the wood on the outside and pull the hardware cloth over the edge and down, you could have a straight across board or a few pieces that made an arch shape.

The more holes you drill in metal, the more places there are for rust to start.

I know zip ties are popular, but they take a beating from the sun and can fail at crucial times. They should never be used on structural elements.

That makes sense.

I'm going to meet a possible successor to Cleo. I have a date, of sorts, on Saturday morning.

Her face looks like a Boxer, with jowls and a smushed nose.

And like a chimera with that line on her face.

She's running around the rescue yard with chickens and ducks, but the geese attacked her so she doesn't try to play with them anymore.
:gig

I'll keep you posted.

She's such a cutie! Hope she turns out to be a great fit for you. I've got a soft spot for boxers and boxer mixes/look alikes.

I am home from work tomorrow, and probably Thursday as well. I have my work laptop and permission to do some tasks remotely.

This afternoon I filled up both 5 gallon bucket feeders with crumbles, well, halfway actually. I topped off the big rubber tub waterer, and added another smaller rubber tub waterer. They're both on the south side of the hoop coop, where the sun hits during the winter. If it is iced over and I can't make it to the coop it's the best option for the flock's needs. The temperature is going to stay right at freezing for the next 24 hours anyway.

Tomorrow morning before the precipitation starts I will add a little more straw to the hoop coop, maybe sacrifice another collard plant and place it in the run for the chickens' enjoyment.

And I will top off the bird feeders.

And check the cat shelters on the front porch, replace the straw with fresh if needed. I can feed the "ferals" on the porch when the weather is bad, just open the door!
