fuzzi's Chicken Journal

I picked up some off brand Crocs at Aldi's, lined inside with pile. Love them, perfect for trips out to the coop!

I've been two weeks without eggs, so I started eating pickled eggs that I made back in June. I placed hard-boiled/peeled eggs into a jar of pickled beets brine.

The whites are a little bit rubbery, but the eggs taste fine.

😋
Sigh....

Now I need to make a trip to Aldi's 🤣

They look tasty! So, if I have some leftover polish beet/leak salad brine in a jar, can I just put boiled eggs in and wait...how long? I have never eaten or tried pickling eggs (or any pickling, for that matter) before, so a newbie trying something new here!

I've got to hand it to you, I can't think of anyone I know buying pink fluffy crocs for chicken duties.:D

That's what I did.

I hardboiled eggs, peeled them, and set aside any that weren't whole, where the white had split or where the yolk was showing, you don't want the liquid to reach the yolk. I had jars of leftover pickle juice in the refrigerator because I like to use it as a flavoring, so I filled up a jar with whole eggs, then topped it off with pickle juice making sure the eggs were completely covered. It's best to let them sit in the refrigerator for at least a couple weeks. They taste kind of like deviled eggs.

I had a jar with just a few pickles beets left in the bottom. I ate the beets and added hardboiled eggs to the brine. I like how the eggs turned pink.

I also put on each jar lid the date I added eggs to the brine.

Those are lovely aren't they!

I do wear those type of fake/croc/clogs for chores and around the house too. I have a pair just for chickens, the other for banging about. Lined ones might work for banging around in cold weather since that's in the shoe itself, but I make a mess with chicken chores, I can see them being grungy quickly.
PLUS. It's terrible, really is. I don't like socks, no I really do not like socks, so yeah...bare feet in the crocs works just fine, even in the dead of winter.

And yes, I do own socks, boots and sneakers. If there's a lot of snow or during a Vortex, I will begrudgingly put them on...😝
