fuzzi's Chicken Journal

@fuzzi Looks good! We learn quickly how to handle that pokey hardware cloth. That stuff can hurt!

@Wyorp Rock Hope it passed through the mountains without causing problems for anyone.

We are starting to get some mild wind gusts this morning. Storm should be here lunch time or just after. Hope it passes quickly.
I had seedlings outside to start to harden them off. I moved them back to the greenhouse late yesterday.
It is unusually warm this morning.

Looking good!

I hope the storms pass by you Eastern folks quickly. It's really gusting here; the rain is on the way too.
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement.

We're supposed to get strong storms this afternoon. I'm looking forward to seeing how the rainbarrels perform.

I did get a slice on my wrist from the HWC this time, but no puncture wounds like I had with the first hoop coop construction!

I went to the nursery Saturday morning, but put the few plants I bought on the front porch. They should be safe there.

I'm down in Florida visiting my boyfriend. I just found caster bean plants in his backyard. Anyone got any suggestions on how best to get rid of them? Can I just cut them off at ground level? It looks like they haven't been growing there for very long, I do not remember seeing them back in January

If you are in an area that doesn't freeze castor bean is a tender perennial. I would try to remove the root.
It will also reseed. It is invasive and very poisonous if ingested. I think I would wear gloves.
