These chicks are a Jersey Giant x RIR back-cross to RIR. They are a week old as of yesterday.
This is JUST a guessing game. In order to keep it simple, mark on the poll those you think are MALE. If undecided, leave it blank. Come back and look at update pictures, change your votes, etc.
Contestant 1: My guess is male. Secondary wing feathers mostly covered by down and the tail feathers are indistinct and downy.
Contestant 2: My guess is male. Lots of wing down, primary flight feathers staggered.
Contestant 3: My guess is female. Tail feathers are round and perfect, secondary wing feathers straight across, but lots of wing down.
Contestant 4: Wings stood out early, tail feathers scraggly and patchy. I am undecided, but because of behavior I lean female on this one.
Contestant 5: This chick is the lightest in color and by that standard I guess male. Tail is scraggly and patchy, wing primaries straight across with lots of down.
Contestant 6: Wings stood out early, tail feathers round and well developed. Secondary wing feathers straight across. I lean female on this one.
Contestant 7: Tail is scraggly and patchy, slow to come in. Wing secondaries straight across and wings appear less developed. I vote male.
