Not really apart from just fun colors and mixes here. But I'm not hatching right now either so I won't have growout birds for a few months
That's fine.

Was giving the thread a bump, in hope some others may see, & want to share their's.

Not sure if this really counts or not, but I had this pair, and when bred together, the males were white and the females were black, even though they were both white. It was like this weird sex-linking. I didn’t hatch enough to be completely sure, but I hatched 6. The first time I hatched 2 cockerels (white) and 3 pullets (black). The last time, I hatched one and it was a male and it was white.

Maybe it’s not that odd, but I thought it sure was strange…

Both the mother and father are heterozygous dominant white (aka paint), meaning they can have white, paint, or black offspring. It’s odd that the offspring ended up appearing sex-linked, though.

Would have had at least a few feathers on the legs If it had been the cochin. Plus he never was able to go and breed with the Spitzhaubens.

Hatchery the orpington came from doesn't carry barred or cuckoo orpingtons
Orpington was definitely the father. Whites carrying funny unexpected colors are super common.

I hatch a gazillion chicks a year and I’m afraid/proud to say there’s nothing very odd or unpredictable around here. Except that last year every Buckeye pullet I hatched had some amount of black double lacing. But that’s not interesting, just sad. 😩
But usually my purebreds work as purebreds do. Lovely, uniform, boring, adorable babies.

Maybe I'll throw the spitzhaubens back with him then nest spring If he's still around..... she's quite the looker. I call her CU-Co (with that emphasis too, like for the Coco perfume commercial where the guy calls her name from the balcony)
