On the side of a knoll...
My DH and I are going to buy 3 pygmy goats in the morning but at this moment we don't have any housing for them. We can build them something but I need to know how much space would they need to be comfortable and happy. Can I see your goat housing?

i dont have any photos at the moment, sorry, but mine is a big shed, i think about 20' by 12' or so (guessing) that we divided into two stalls and one storage/people area.

i've heard that at bare minimum, a large doghouse is fine for the mini goats. they hate getting wet, so as long as they have some shelter from rain and wind, you're pretty good.

Heres mine for 5 Nigi's.

I am getting two wethers the first of June. They are Nigerian dwarfs. My goat house looks alot like the one pictured above, half of the opening is closed off tho. I will have a 35 by 50 lot for the two of them. I was told 20 by 20 would do for wethers. Here is a site with lots of pics of goat housing. I'll try to get pics when the weather is nice.

This is the best picture I could find of the outside of ours. It's our larger one for the does & kids & the length of it probably extends 4 or 5 ft past the edge of the picture. There are 2 stalls inside at the back of it. The stalls are fixed so that we can just have one large stall or two smaller ones. There's also a shelf that 's at least 6ft off the floor & goes the whole length of the building where we keep a few supplies & a bale of hay.

It's off the ground quite a bit on one side (so much so that I can easily crawl under it) & they tend to spend more time under it than actually inside the building. We also have one of those igloo dog houses out there & just about all of the kids had rather sleep in it with the pig than with their moms.

ETA: Found this pic of the inside of it before we put in the stalls.

We just threw together some scrap wood with some metal roofing material. Pallet for the floor and filled it with hay ......we plan to put a fence up around it for when our goat kids we can keep a closer eye on them. But this can work for a few goats as just a shelter.

We could totally do that. I may even be able to convince DH to buy some siding.

It would be nice if we could build it maybe twice as high and add a second floor to one side for them to climb on. At least in my mind it seems like a good idea, lol.
