Sometimes if birds are inbred the hatch will be reduced. I think most blue Orps in the US have a lot of the same blood. Shipping also does a number on them. I hope the ones I send out over the next few months hatch for people. Maybe if you emailed him and told him about how they didnt hatch. I know if several people had DIS I would replace the eggs for shipping only.

FYI, I wrote him yesterday to update him on my blue rocks I got and he was saying he is swamped w/people wanting eggs/chicks & he hopes they are patient as he is doing his best.

As for shipping for chicks, it was reasonable..around 25 to 35 dollars for both chick and adult sizes plus box. All shipped to Illinois. Anybody further, it will cost more.

Good luck folks and be patient LOL! I am glad that Gordie is busy as he could ever be.

Blue orps, Zero hatch.
Better luck next time I guess.

I will go with chicks next time for sure. No use wasting money and time on no hatch with the blue orps. Seems to be the case anyway.

Just wanted to let you guys know I got 6 exhibition rouen chicks from him today. I am THRILLED w/them! They are 2-3 weeks old and HUGE and SO much friendlier than the hatchery birds I have been raising. I am VERY excited and once I ensure I have enough of each sex I will sell off my hatchery quad and just have these guys.

After trying to hatch Blue Orps from eggs I decided to try day old chicks. I ordered a dozen Blue and Black Orps and was very pleased, I ended up with 10 very healthy and happy chicks, 4 blacks, 3 blues and 3 splash.

I would definitely get chicks from Gordie again!!

I finally gave up getting anything from him. I sent him an email about a week after this thread started and he said he had tons of orders. Understandable, I said I could wait. A few weeks later I sent him an email and said I wanted less (orginally asked for 3 breeds, eggs or chicks), only needed 2 breeds. He said he would put me on the list. Never heard from him again. I have sent him two more emails since just to check on his progress and it has probably been a couple of months.

He is still selling away on eggbid though, maybe he gets more money there than he advertised them here for. Either way, I went elsewhere and got everything I needed from my BYC friends!

He didn't put the ad up here. Maybe that's the problem. I would think if he had something to offer, he would have put a post up himself.
