I have two little Goslings, both under 5 days older, one only a couple of day. I have been feeding the adult geese Kalmbach Duck and Goose Food with 18% Protein supplemented with Brewers yeast.

Can I use this feed for the goslings? Last night after bringing home the older gosling I ground up some of the adult food for the two youngsters. (The full size pellets were too big for them). They are both eating it and drinking as well. I think the older one from the farm store taught the younger one what to do.

I do have Chick Starter Grower Feed as an option if that might be better.

Thanks

Did you try the Purina Flockraiser? We are needing to supplement our Gosling's food intake, she is going on 2 weeks old and eating so much.

No, they need to be on a higher protein feed while growing, something like a 20 or 22%. Purina flockraiser works well.
Thanks, I will go get a bag. they ate some finely chopped up napa cabbage this morning. The older one must be used to a lot of attention from the many goslings he was with. He keeps up a steady loud peeping when one of us in not near and talking with it. Will try an adventure outside in the warm sun for a short bit even though they are pretty young.

Yes, I am using the Flock raiser. They love finely chopped lettuce (not iceberg) and finely chopped green cabbage. If you give her anything other than the Flockraiser, offer a small dish of Chick grit. I often will fill a small bowl from my soil outside which my little chicks love to eat.

Do you have a friend for your gosling or is she by herself? She will be a much better adjusted bird with another one of her species. Otherwise she will probably imprint upon you and possibly become an amorous problem later.

Do feed her greens though. That is a must for her good health. There is a lot of info on the Internet what they can eat and what to stay away from. Mine adult geese LOVVVVEEEE grapes, but only as a treat. I have not tried it on my little ones yet.

Hmmm?

Sorry, the reply must have gone to you, not to the other person. These two are growing like crazy. It has been very windy the last couple of days, so I have not been able to take them outside.

i'm feeding my two week olds the purina flock raiser. i'd planned on feeding them kalmbach duck & goose as maintenance.
i'm getting confused because i'd always read that at about 4 weeks, one needs to lower their protein to prevent angelwing. most of the brands i've researched say to keep them on higher protein for 8 weeks.
can anyone clarify their needs for me, please?

I have been feeding my goslings and geese Kalmbach Duck & Goose mini pellets for almost a year. I also give all my young chicks and goslings hard boiled egg yolk within the first couple of days. I will grind the mini pellets in a coffee grinder for the goslings along with the egg yolk. I will feed them finely chopped romaine lettuce or napa cabbage when they seem to be eating and drinking well. At that time I add a bit of chick grit to the egg and pellet mixture.

My husband started a goose garden with nutritious greens which the geese of all ages love to munch on.
