makes sense., i do give them meal worms alotI am a relative newby myself and inherited Rhode Island Red chickens when we bought our new place. Mine are about 4 and I get one egg every other day. I used to have 7 hens but have lost 5 due to unknown reasons. I do believe if they are over-treated they lay less because they get full on treats and do not eat enough of the layer pellets.
