This sounds terrible too..he was pretty sick when you got him to the hospital. If you hadn't he may have passed at home. Now you may think, Granny, better than this, but I think you would have felt guilty for not getting him there. As I've pointed out from Scott's ways, once the decline starts to happen quickly, it happens rather..quickly. Especially if they've had surgery, or a hard illness. This is why we decided not to put Scott through surgery when he was diagnosed with Prostate cancer. Our Dr. explained how treatment would bring him down fast. He said to discuss it with family. We decided no surgery especially after reading up on how it affects them. Also the illness itself can cause rapid decline, and he was a lot younger.Granny, I know this sounds terrible but ... what if he was like this at home? You could not handle him.

Pneumonia, covid..which I'm guessing caused the pneumonia is tough on a body, brain.
The best thing we could do for Scott was to put him on pain pills, and then for aggressive behavior. It's hard to watch, and hear.
Nothing really can be done at this point. Hopefully they will find a more calming drug for him. He is so frustrated. Tell them to find something that will calm him. Yes they're trying. You can let them know it's ok to try other meds. Ask them to ..please..calm him. Maybe they can't. Maybe he has to be on ..hospice. I just wanted to see Scott calm.
We had our mom on hospice for 6 months in a nursing home. Glad we did. She was getting so hard to handle with her dementia also.
Still praying. Ohh man do I remember having to make decisions. It's hard Granny, it's hard.
That’s is good.If you were still able to make those payments, I would imagine yes. They limit what they can take for extended care situations, based on your financial situation, and from what my mom has been telling me about my dad’s mom’s situation - it’s covered by provincial health care unless you get into your preferred facility. So the “preferred” one was the next town over, but she got in at the “next spot open” so it’s not costing an arm and a leg.
Convalescence stays though are covered by provincial health I do believe - when she fell and hurt herself…
Wonder if the laws have changed since then. I think in Calif it is the same as what granny stated. My mom's SSI check went to the facility in FL but my brother and I got her house.
I agreeHe is pushing 90 yrs old. There's got to be a better way for him to go out.
