We are doing OK for a couple of old F..ts. Pa felt better today and with help from youngest daughter we were able to get the new brooder built. Just in time for new chicks starting to hatch tonight. Tomorrow we will work in the garden most of the day. How are you doing?

The chicklets are still alive. The hens still seem to be in a bit of a trance, but the chicks seem to know who their mamas are. At least everybody's up walking around, eating and drinking, DH reports. Some of the dark spots in the pic are oak leaves.

we had 2 today, a royal and a trim. Calves is what they are called since Yaks are bovines.

They look good. What type of bedding you got there?

Shredded paper. DH works at a bank, we have an unlimited supply. It's free, clean, easy to transport and does not harbor mites or lice. Tomorrow afternoon he's going to rake out about two-thirds of what's in there, though!
