Granny's gone and done it again

Is that at Walmart. DH doesn't want any seasoning in his home canned sauce. He says it tastes like fresh tomatoes. He didn't know what home canned ones were like till he tasted mine. Citric acid totally ruins tomato sauce

Yes, and at Publix too.

I've always wished we could grow our own tomatoes, but between the bugs and the heat here in FL, we end up with big green plants and no fruit.

I can at least partly agree with your hubs... it seems like every make-your-own sauce is big on the seasonings but mum on perfect tomato flavor. The sauce should be about the tomatoes... I've never managed to make something beautiful like that.
Although I do love a hefty quantity of fresh Basil :p I settle for just chopping some to put on my jarred sauce dinners.

We do have a pizzeria not too far from us that makes their own sauce from fresh imported Sam Marzanos every week. It's amaaaaazing. I would just order a bowl of sauce if I could get away with it.

There are lot of produce farms around and they will charge$5 for a basket of huge Vine ripe tomatoes that have a couple soft spots. They make the best sauce. Just cut off the soft spot. I had gotten some from my brother's farm. DH thought he never had any so good and was disappointed that I made them in sauce. But with the heat, they would have been spoiled till the following day. I found it he was telling his friends about his disappointment!!!

We used to get to pick our tomatoes at Ruskin, FL farms after they had been picked out for markets. A 5 gallon bucket cost us a dollar. We canned a ton of them.

Yeah, we've picked tomatoes up at farmstands. But a lot of the varieties grown here are very plain in the flavor department.
I once read a study that tested tomato genetics and found most varieties grown now are completely missing genes that contribute to flavor complexity that some much older tomato varieties still have.

I have a big collection of heirloom seeds that I really want produce from but I'd have to paint the plants in insecticide against the hornworms, nematodes, etc.

Yes...but why did it all of a sudden start happening? Even Drs can't explain.
been living with that my whole life
Something new or the same old problem.
both. After drinking that mag. citrate and taking 4 linzess I went once and haven't gone since.
Bed sore is peeling the skin off. Still bleeding. I can't see it, I just feel it.
