Granny's gone and done it again

I had the oil company out to give a quote to fix the leaking water pressure reducer. They hit me with a $1650 quote. The neighbor man gave me his plumber and that quote is $280. He should be out to fix it next week. I will never get a contract with the oil company again.
You sure the plumber is going to do everything the oil co was going to do?

The price of a valve off the shelf is around $155.00. The plumber is not getting rich on his quote by any means. I bought a valve to lower the pressure in lines running to my chicken coops. All brass and not a cheap valve that fails easily.
It's the valve by the Boros meter. I had them out, they replaced the meter. I asked the oil company if they could break the cost down so I can see labor vs part but they wouldn't do that. Guess cause it's a contract

From what they told me it's the same. The oil company was expensive when they replaced the valve by the washer to. That's why I asked to break the price down( out of curiosity) The valve like we have, I saw online for $100

The plumber said you can get them like this photo now instead of getting the parts separated. We need both parts replaced and it's apparently less expensive getting it as one piece

I had the COVID shot and took vitamins and still got pretty sick- (not hospital sick) though but I had active Crohn's at the time so can't really say how much it helped. I didn't get the COVID shot this year. Dr says I should. I just never know what I should do.
Dr asked if I'm scared of it. Can't say that. But I've been sick a whole lot from medications and it makes me feel like letting my body do it's fighting. Every time I get sick my kidney function goes real low and it's already less then 50%. Times like this is nice having Mama that tells you what is best!
I was so happy when all the data came out about the inefficiency in the Covid vaccine. After that my dr quit lecturing me about getting it.

We heat with wood. Hard to keep the house temp under 80 most of the time. When we moved in the house was like a freezer. No caulking around the windows or doors, no drywall on half of the walls, just foam insulation. The place was as drafty as a barn and immediately changed our opinion of 'Amish Craftmanship'. We bought cases of caulk after we had rain pouring into the house via a leaky window and went to work. 100 sheets of dry wall later along with new siding on the north side of the building along with new insulation and the house is snug to the point that we have to sometimes crack a door or window to vent off some heat.

As for the flu shots. I set down one day and figured out how many years I got the flu in spite of taking the shot and asked myself why? I could only come up with one or two years that I had stayed healthy all winter. When Covid hit I got in the habit of wearing a mask, taking vitamin D and doing a lot of hand washing/sanitizing and so far so good she says with crossed fingers and toes...eyes...whatever.

What
I ordered some double bubble radiant insulation. The bottom of the attic steps/ceiling of second floor steps isn't sealed off. Coming down the attic steps, some places you can see through to the next floor steps. The insulation is for this winter, then next summer I will put a ceiling in.
else did you get? My dogs keep scratching out the insulating tubing around the door.
