Granny's gone and done it again

I've never gotten the flu shot but I had never gotten the flu until last year. (in 30's)
This Jan I was sick for two months with first Covid and then the flu. It was like they fed off each other and the flu wouldn't clear up.

We experienced Covid twice before the vaccine and twice after, the shot made it bearable. And I still remember being afraid to fall asleep for fear of choking on my own fluids. So every year for me.
Now this month I'm going to get the flu shot. It never made a lot of sense to me as a less effective vaccine, however my Doc tells me it's really gotten better in recent years - provided we waited until October - and I do trust her, she's extremely competent.
I got H1N1 when it was the disease du jour. DH and I got it together from a patient who thought they had a cold...nope, it was the swine flu. I would have had to die to feel better. We missed over a week at the office. I know what you mean about being afraid to go to sleep for fear of drowning in your own juices. I was there.

The Flu vaccine was so ineffective for me that the doctor told me to take two, One in November then one in February. That's when I quit and decided to become a hermit.

Did she shed her horns?
Spent some time trying to get caught up. Had to call it when talk of eating eyeballs popped up, no pun intended. I've tried mountain oysters, eel, turtle, octopus and a few other delicacies but have to draw the line at eyeballs. Won't do chicken feet either.
Chicken feet are good when done right, broiler feet are the best.

Sounds awful!
Yup, I thought at the time it was a bit eye-opening about what some elderly people probably go through with different conditions. It is not fun to fight to breathe especially when you know help is not coming. What a horrible time.
Even if the Covid shot didn't make a difference in my own symptoms, I would still take it for even a 1% less chance someone with poorer health might not get it from me. Just on the memory of that choking thing.

But anyway, yeah I always thought the flu shot sounded silly with their under 40% effectiveness and stuff. My Doc said something about how they use Australia's data now to make it better, and how their flu season is very predictive of ours.
In the news, it says Australia's flu season was the worst in 5 years, since before Covid. And that it's likely ours will be too.

Is that for the gap under the door?

I'm looking forward to the few weeks of the year when no heat or AC is need to be comfortable... Looks like it is about to start this coming week.
We've had weather like that for a couple of weeks! Sure enjoying it, too.

Granny you are sure being quiet tonight... Hope you are getting better with the arm and rib.
I only slept 3 hrs last night and when Nancy left I crashed for about 3 more.
I have an appt. for my neck and arm. Its the 23rd and in Jeffersonville. Long ride.

I'm finally going to ortho with my shoulder now that hips are working again. December 27th. Soon enough after spending 6-$700 in total copays for specialized injections.... At least unlike pills they work for me.
