Granny's gone and done it again

Would it have been easier to take the car? 😇
Yeah but I needed the exercise and carrying two five pound bags of apples, 10 pounds of All Trumps Flour, a flat of yogurt, a 5 pound bag of oatmeal and various odds and ends home up and down hills helped me burn off the cookies I ate over Christmas.

Hi everybody.

Got 6 inches of snow here and blowing wind. Current temp 13 degrees. I keep reminding myself that we moved here from western IL because of the milder winters.

Just put on snow boots, two pairs of sweat pants, a heavy sweat shirt, a hooded Sherpa lined sweat jacket, two pairs of gloves and a stocking cap and went out to check on the birds and fill their treat bowl with cracked corn and sunflower seeds.

It's still snowing to beat the band. DH has plowed paths with the tractor and I had a nice drift in front of the coop door that I had to kick through.

What is it about chickens that they LOVE to peck the snow of your boots but they will frankly commit suicide before you can get them to walk through an inch of snow?

Hope everyone is staying warm. Unless you aren't digging out from this winter storm and are lucky enough to live somewhere where it never snows, then, hope you are staying cool.....and then I think I hate you...... :lau Just kidding of course, I just want to pummel you with snow balls.

This is my volunteer wild grape vine encased in ice. It's not too bad, and the temp has been right at 32 all day so puddles on the ground are still liquid. Can't decide whether to freeze or not, lol!

Hey Blue girl! Life is too short to be taken seriously.

So you guys got the ice. Frankly, I'd much rather take the snow/drifting than ice any day. We haven't seen any ice storms here yet. Makes me wonder if I took my netting down over the coop for nothing. But the heavy snow would just tear them down so I'm glad I did.

Stay safe out there. Don't fall and break something important.

I've got a crock pot dinner going here. Roast beef, roast chicken with carrots. DH just reminded me that it's 5:15 hint hint so I guess it's time to go out and bake some potatoes and get dinner rolling.

BTW, our stove is blazing also here. Nothing beats wood heat.
 wait, roast beast AND roast chicken? In the same crock pot? Yer killing me! Can't do beef here any more but man, I'm salivating here!
