Granny's gone and done it again

My husband built 4 coops for me over the years. For the first 4 or 5 years I kept thinking I needed something a little bigger, or an additional one, etc. Well, there was one year when he was traveling a lot that I needed a little coop to grow out some chicks and bought a small prefab one. It is still standing, barely, but provides interest in the run for them.

We now have one main coop that is very large, a walk in, and the bachelor pad coop and another small A-frame, plus the prefab. The original one he made has been given to a neighbor. It is still in great shape. So many coops has worked well for us over the years when we needed to separate a mom and her chicks, or a sick hen, etc.

You would think I have a lot of chickens, but I don't, I have 13 hens and 2 roosters. Right now one rooster, avatar pic, is separated in the bachelor pad, but he hangs out at the fence line with the hens. The most chickens I have had was 20, and I hope to get back to that number again this year. If I do I might be able to bring Cooper, the separated rooster, back into the flock. I have a lot of old ladies that don't lay, but get to live out their lives here. It's a happy flock.

Love the chicken songs. Happy you have them around you. Would you ever have chickens again?
My husband also built ne a smaller coop for bantams and grow out. Had him take that one down when I stopped hatching.
My health isn't good enough to do that anymore, and the yard here is way smaller than what I had, which is good. I can't do too much out there anymore. My son was doing a lot for me. He'll have less to mow now. :) I will have a small flower garden somewhere, and I'll have to have a place for a tomato plant!! 🍅
I have my dogs.

Larry, what do you think of these ?
Pricey but they say they produce better

It could be your best bet being in CA. The ones I have and get can't be shipped to CA. I have these two growing here now. Should get enough for pies and jams and some waffle syrup this year.

Those are thornless and need minimal supports too.

Ok. Plumber called. The kids had taken video of what was happening with the toilets after the horrible sound. The plumber says, it's a terrifying sound. It's just air. It's happened in his in house. Says people explain it in different ways. Sounded like an earthquake! Or, sounded like a Train running through the house. YEP.
Yesterday the fence guys came and used the outside faucet for what was probably the first time in close to a year. I heard pipes rattle when they turned it on and thought just that, it's been a while since that's been turned on.
The plumber said since the water was off for a while..remember I was upset when we did our walk through that the water was off, well the heat was on and that's good. Anyway, air settles in the pipes after a a while.
Soooo, Blue was right! Our house had a big burb! 😂
He's going to come by and check things out anyway. He isn't worried because our water pressure is still good. Plus we'll have the old water softener taken out. Need a new upper upper canister for the water heater too.

I'd like to down size too, but I'm still working on DH about it. It won't be any time soon I'm afraid. I would love a little yard!!! And room for a tomato plant.
