Hello,
I had one of my 1 year old hens that we found laying down and breathing hard. By the time we got her inside she died. Decided to cut her open to see what was going on.

First off, there was a ton of blood in the body cavity, it made it hard to see anything till I pulled it all out. Most organs looked pretty normal, but we found this huge squishy lump. Since the guts were pulled out by this point, I'm not sure where it was originally. I've never seen anything like it, so wanted to see if anything had any idea what I'm looking at?

Thanks

Do you have any other pictures of the insides?
How big/small is this?

If I'd been thinking I would have taken more pictures, but no didn't get a picture of the rest of the insides. It was about the size of my fist, and not firmly attached to anything else.

Also forgot to add that there wasn't any visible developing eggs, so my best guess is that this was an ovary or egg follicle that got infected?

I'm sorry to hear about your hen.

I'm not sure what that is, I'd suspect cancer(?). You're likely correct that it's reproductive. Hopefully others will chime in.
