Some pics of our Pyrenees litter- they are getting so big!! They are now out in the goat pasture with mom and dad. It is adorable seeing 10 little fluff balls running around out there! I will try to get some new pictures of them today. Here are some photos from a few days ago...

I sooo want one of those. how much are you selling them for. i guess i would want a male.

as far as guarding your livestock and flock do they just do it by instinct or do you have to train them?

Thanks

She actually had 11 pups (first litter!), but one got smothered when they were just a few days old. Sad.

herefordlovinglady- I am selling them for $500 each. A lot of people have called me inquiring about them, but flip out when they hear the price. We actually paid $600 for our female, and $750 for our male, and AKC Pyrs go for $500 and up so I am not sure what people are expecting? Our first Pyr was an unregistered male, who we paid $100 for and thought we were getting a real bargain. His hips were so bad by the time he turned one (yes, only one years old) that he could barely walk, let alone run. He also was not NEAR as good of a guardian as our two now. Our puppies are guaranteed not to have hip dysplasia. In answer to your question, they do it naturally! They are AMAZING. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have any goats or chickens left! They have saved them countless times (once from two Pit Bulls, once from a fox, and once from a skunk, that I have seen personally. We also have coyotes on the property that we hear almost every night. They are very close but have NEVER tried to bother with the chickens or goats, thanks to our dogs. My male is IN LOVE with his goats, I can't even drag him out of the goat pasture (really). If I take one of his goats out to milk/groom/etc, he paces the fence whining until I return her.
They are worth their weight in gold!

They are also unbelievably loving and gentle with our children. My three year old takes our 120 lb female for a walk down to the creek a few days a week. We have lots of pictures on our website if you want to see, the link is in my siggy.

It will not be the first time I have paid 500 for a loving dog. we have over 400 acres, will one be able to cover the whole area or just the house and surrounding area?

It will be difficult for just one dog to patrol that large an area. Also, if faced by a pack of coyotes, there really needs to be two dogs working together. Two Pyrs can even bring down a bear! I would take 10% off for two pups, it would be nice to have a bonded pair go to a new home together.
