I went to shut the girls (5 of them) in their coop this evening and noticed one was not sleeping, had her neck straight up, and was panting. It's been over 100 for several days now here so I figured she was probably overheating. I brought her into the air conditioned house, dropped some water on her beak, and gave her an ice pack underneath her (which she promptly stood on). I had some bananas in the fridge for them, so I gave her one... She walked on that too. Then she hopped up onto my kitchen island and promptly pooped on a baking sheet. Not the best, but cleanable, so whatever. I let her be there for a while and came back in a couple minutes to clean up the poop, but saw that it had tiny white things moving and crawling out of it ALL OVER. SO MANY. Oh boy. This is not just overheating.
So glad that's in my kitchen.
She's been in the house now for about 30 minutes and has stopped panting, she's looking fine and normal now. But oh man, those wormy things in the poop! Too small to be maggots, and definitely came from inside her. Do you think tapeworms? They all got Wazine'd about 6 months ago but obviously that only does roundworms.
Good thing tomorrow is Sunday and both the vet and farm supply store are closed, and it's gonna be 103! What can I do?????
