Well. I was able to find a local chicken breeder who happened to have an assortment of ornamental chicks so I was able to get the exact chicks I wanted without having to worry about shipping this time of year or getting rid of 18 extra chicks. We got our feet wet with four pullet chicks; one each of Dark Brahma, Buff Brahma, White Cochin and Gold-Laced Cochin. In two weeks we will add a Barred Rock and an Ameraucana. Hopefully I'll be able to keep the flock to a nice even six birds but I have been sufficiently warned though that chickens are addicting.
