Greetings! I've had chickens for a few years and someone convinced me to livestream them

Good morning, and welcome to BYC. Not an automation, but raising the roost bars higher than the nest boxes, generally eliminates the problem of sleeping in the nest boxes.
I read this as well. I probably have the lumber to do so. The former homeowners built the chicken coop and I haven't done much with the structure other than adding a small roost much higher up in a corner and adding gutters that train into a makeshift water dispenser.

I guess it depends on what I'll find easier: raising the roost or adding doors. Although being able to programatically close off nesting boxes would have its benefits. I like giving myself work so maybe I'll do both 😁

Being the automatic nest bar closing unit is sold separately you might could just use that part on your own designed nest boxes. I've had trouble in the past of having some of then hens that I think were low on the pecking order seeking refuge in the nest boxes at night. There was no shortage of roosting space high up. They were the exception not the rule for roosting behavior.

I think thats what is happening in my case. Whilst I do have a 'momma' hen that will get broody from time to time, both her and the rooster are silkies and will raise smaller either pure or half silkies that are physically weaker than some of my other hens. I have a large brahma hen and she is very kind, but I have a rhode island red that can be abusive over things like food or sleeping quarters, and a very old non-egg-laying speckled hen that will attempt to maximize her resources as well.
I would love to have the link to the site, once everything is live.
I'm still setting things up and its a learning process but everything will eventually be streaming on twitch.tv/HenHangout

I was busy changing configurations when I noticed a chicken being quite curious of a camera and recorded a a short video of it
