My first time with chicks, it's sure a joy. The first are 2 weeks, bantam are 1 week.

Today, I got a little surprise, I was checking the bantam for pasty butt, talking to them of course, and the one of older ones figured out how to fly up on the box. It's waist high to me. So cute...
So a higher box I guess lol

Time for a cover (chicken wire). If they can make it waist high, they can go much much higher.

Yes, what I thought, for temporary. I'm giving the new ones a week or so to grow a bit more, then will let them all free in coop, as it's heated and will still have the brooder plate down as well. More room and they can fly as high as they wish.
Also easier for me to clean...hahaha.
