Not Sussex. Not Cochin. Buff Brahma. So, chicken fever is here, and chicks go within minutes in our two tractor supply stores. I got 4 in a pullet bin labeled Speckled Sussex. Cool, because I don't have any of those, and they are supposed to be sweet. I don't think I got any Sussex out of the four, lol. Here is one. She's super sweet, but maybe Cochin? Maybe something else?
The other three look like they are either the Sapphire Gem or Sapphire Olive Eggers that TSC and Hoovers Hatchery sells. So there she is in natural light (the kitchen) lol. The last photo is the other 3 that I can't seem to identify since they were all in the "Speckled Sussex" bin but we know they are not lol.
LOL Believe it or not, those are all breeds I wanted but weren't available. Sapphire Olive Egger. I have two other Sapphire Gems and they dont look the same but SOE would be super cool. How about the gray chick in the front? Any guesses? The other three look like they are either the Sapphire Gem or Sapphire Olive Eggers that TSC and Hoovers Hatchery sells.
Probably those then. I wish I had a photo of the 3 I had (bought as Premium Pullets and all 3 were cockerels) they look a lot like them. My guess would be she is the same as the other two. They do not breed true, the chicks can look blue, whitish, and black sometimes.LOL Believe it or not, those are all breeds I wanted but weren't available. Sapphire Olive Egger.
