Hardware cloth prices, let me know how much it cost you

Searching online for hardware cloth can be problematic simply because you can't see the product!

Is the hardware cloth plastic or metal? Has it been coated so it won't rust as easily?
What is the gauge of the material used? (Higher the gauge number, finer the material.)
If metal, is it welded or woven?
Some of the HW cloth is much sturdier, and a better deal if you need to deal with predators. So while comparing $$$, we should also be listing the other factors.

Well, I purchased a 2 1/2 ' square of the 1/2"x1/2" hardware cloth Ace Hardware sells. I don't know what the gauge is, but it's strong and welded. I was going to use it on a brood box top. After all I've read and seen on this thread, the $79 for a 100 ft. roll x 30" doesn't seem like such a bad deal anymore! At least I can see what I'm getting.

I recognize that this post is .... 7 years old... but i just googled the same question. I'm in ontario. I just purchased a 1/2" mesh, 3'x100' roll from TSC. I had an online code for 50% off, so with taxes it came to $107.34. I'll have to pick it up at the store when it arrives.

$107 is a good price. I have gotten 100' rolls for $75-160 depending on gauge and height. We like the 3'-4' 19 gauge. It is easier for.me to.order online when it's on sale.
