Well, yesterday would’ve been lockdown day BUT it ended up passing. I tossed a few in the ‘ol incubator (I cut the top about 72hrs after they’ve been in there) but only 1 ended up being fertilized. I knew the others were a no go. this 1 is developing nicely, nice veining & has movement. We shall see. Like I said before, I have NO idea why I was able to hatch 3 open eggs on my 1st try in the past. 😆 I really should’ve taken good notes.
How is your egg doing? Hope it’s working! Also, not going to be able to try this method for a few months, as we are leaving until may😕. Also, I forgot about that for a week and filled up my incubator XD. I have set up a system to let them into the brooder once they hatch. Good luck!

You've got an incubator full going and you're leaving them?
Is this the 'unattended' method?

That 1 checked out, but I do have 1 that is on day 20 & getting ready to hatch (fingers crossed). A cool thing about this window egg is that it is a 2nd generation window egg! Its momma was 1 of the 3 chicks I hatched successfully after cutting the top off.

Here it is tonight. All squished into a ball getting ready. 😬

Soooo how’s it going to work when your eggs hatch while you’re gone? I’m intrigued. 🤔 Let me know if you try this experiment again when you get back!

sorry the reply took so long😅. been busy. so here is how its working. I have a brooder set up with flowing water from a stream and a gravity waterer with hoses coming in and out each end, so the water doesnt freeze, i have heat tape in it. i bought a cheap incubator, and insulated it with rock wool and duck tape. i bought some sealing lids from walmart, and i attached one to a dog camera with a rubber band. i can remotely turn the cameras, so as to lift the lid, and let a chick out once it hatches. i have succesfully let 5-6 chicks out now. i have a camera watching from above to see how there all doing, and one right next to the incubator to see when a chick hatches and is dry. its all really suspect lol, but it works great!

Did your chick hatch successfully?
