Hi, I have an old Satin hen (bred by Sheri Minkner) and I'd always wanted chicks from her. I've had 5 different roosters over the years. As they matured they were placed for different reasons. This Satin hen never ever wanted anything to do with them. I have a new young Silkie rooster - 14 months old. She decided he was pretty awesome and started laying eggs. One finally hatched. Just curious, are chicks from such an old hen healthy (sorry for ignorance but it is an honest question)? Thanks for any feedback or responses.
