Hi I am getting ready to hatch button quail for the first time and want to know what the best way to hatch shipped eggs is so I get the highest possible hatch rate.

Ok well since no one else responded I’ll tell you how I plan to do it based on info I found.Step#1 Let them set for 24 hours(pointy side down). Step #2 Put them in the incubator. #3 Calculate to find the hatching date. They hatch after 16 days. The first FULL day is the day you start counting.#4 Go into lockdown on day 14 (I think). #5 Expect babies on day 16!! Also forgot something important, hatching temp is 99.5 Fahrenheit and turn eggs three to four times a day.You can mark eggs with a permanent marker.Idk about humidity.Hope this helps!Y’all feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on anything!

I last hatched buttons Nov 2020 and will this month. 99.5 would be circulated air (incubator that has a fan) or 102 F still air. I believe everything is the same as chicken eggs except they hatch in 16 days instead of 21 like you mentioned. I did dry hatch (40-50% humidity) until lock down added a wet sponge and if needed pieces of more wet sponge until humidity gets to 60-65. Being so small they have gotten under the wire so if you want to add water to the troughs maybe just the middle part they can't get to. They're prone to spraddle leg. I'm going to be adding more shelf liner this time.
