Hatching Eggs - Journal

They just feel the need to get up and take care of the ones that hatched already especially after 4 days. You might want to put the little one on a soft cloth inside a cup or small bowl feet down so it doesn't drag the yolk around and rupture it.
Okay I will put it in something else. I’m a little concerned because the sac looks more red and it doesn’t really seem to be attached to the egg, maybe just a little.

Not a good photo, I was trying to be quick while moving it to a bowl

The yolk will be attached to the duckling. It should be absorbing can you tell it is?
It is absorbing! Not fully yet but it has gone down since this morning

Is it safe to remove the rest of the egg? Theres a few clear strings holding it to the egg so I’ve left it

If it comes off easy, sure. I personally wouldn’t pull or prod too much. Any stuck shell or membrane can be removed later when baby is looking better.

Much better! Pretty much completely absorbed. There’s some crusty on the outside so I’ll watch it

I got some electrolyte powder from TSC and mixed in water. Dipped a qtip in and gave it some. Periodically doing that. Definitely weak, which is understandable… but getting better!

Gorgeous baby. Glad they’re on their feet ❤️

I’ve heard the membrane can get really stuck, but I was way more concerned about that yolk than anything else. Since the yolk is absorbing well, though, I’d definitely keep working on getting it off.
