Heartland Hatchery Silkies

I placed a chick order with a local hatchery. When I got to the feed store, they already had my chick order in a box. I got home, got my silkies in their new setup, and 3 of the chicks feet are pink. Only one has black feet. I’m definitely going to keep them and they will have a great home regardless of what they are. I’m just a little tiny bit frustrated they don’t have black feet and are maybe a mix, when I paid $$ for buff silkies.
Has anyone had this happen before? Are these full silkies or are they a mix?

At least they appear to have 5 toes. I have had a few take a few days to darken, but they didn't seem that light....

Some pink toes do get darker with maturity.. this is a hatchery pet quality pure bred Silkie. The toes nails don't change colors.

After hatching hundreds of them (in a different variety) even with selecting HARD toward the Standard of Perfection in parents stock... not every chick that hatched was top quality.. and melanistic breeds, bleed though of skin color is one of those commonly seen faults.

Only about 1% of hatched chicks will be considered true top show or breeding quality. Buff is one of the harder colors to breed. People like me will obsess about every detail including the length of each and amount of separation between the fourth and fifth toe.

The difference seen between siblings from the same parents like hair color.. like my own.. are called phenotype. Hope this helps.
