Heat lamp for mailed chicks?

So technically the heat lamp is only needed until they bounce back? It’s our first time getting mailed chicks 🐥 😬 I’m so glad they sent that article!
Basically yes, but "bounce back" could take a day or two, not just the first hour or two. They need to eat, and digest that food to give them more energy, and eat some more, all interspersed with drinking and sleeping, and they are also learning what stuff is good to eat and where to find it.

I’ve used a heat lamp both times I got new chicks. I’ve had small batches both times and my brooder is indoors. They never want to stay under it as long as the directions say, they run around and return to it. Last night, they all slept outside of it at 3 weeks old, it was about 72 in my house.

I gave them electrolytes the first day, both times, but they seemed so healthy I stopped after that.
