Heating plate hack

So if your like me and don’t like your chicks pooping on your heating plate then you have probably looked into ways to keep them off. I use the eggluulz 10x10 inch heating plate. So I began looking at anti-roost cones. You can spend anywhere from 17-40$ easily on one of those. So one day I was looking at my plate and was trying to come up with an economical way to keep them off. I drive a diesel truck and have to buy the DEF fluid which comes in a a cardboard box. I cut the end out of the box and it slid perfectly over the top of the plate with all 4 adjustment posts inside the box. If you don’t drive a diesel that’s okay you can buy some def fluid from the auto store for cheap. Like 6-8$ and gift it to someone who does use it and keep the box 😂. Or get them to buy it and give you the box. Anyway, I thought I’d share this with you all as it’s worked out flawlessly. Here’s a top down view so you can see! Yes that’s a camera I have mounted to the box. I love to watch the chicks during the day. My dog loves to come check on the chicks with me anytime she gets a chance.

Good idea for a quick fix,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, BUT :old
In very short time,, they will be jumping on top of that box as well. You will need a top cover of netting/screen or similar,, to keep chicks from escaping.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:welcome
