1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, personally we are new. My parents have around 25 and my sisters has had about 6 for the past few years.
We just got ours last week
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
As of today we have 8
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have 3 Silkies right now that are 4 weeks old. We also have 2 Black Australorps 7 wks old, 2 Gold Lace Wyandotte’s 7 wks old, and 1 Plymouth Barred Rock 7 wks old.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? This is all new so we are looking forward to the eggs mostly and I’m also looking forward to having them take care of the bugs in the garden mainly those pesky tomato horn worms.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? We enjoy hiking and cycling as well as kayaking, I’ve recently got into fly fishing (not that great at it)
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have a dog, he’s been around chickens most of his life so he is unfazed by their none sense.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? Just this weekend, I wanted to join to get involved with other more experienced backyard raisers.
